I created this game during the pandemic lockdown to try to infuse some of the joy, connection, and excitement our new hires felt when joining our company in person.
It also reduced the overall time needed for onboarding; this one-hour self-directed training replaced approx. four hours of in-person time.

This learning experience is still a key part of the onboarding program and continues to receive very positive feedback. It's gone through yearly iterations and improvements to keep it accurate and relevant to our people.

This game is a great example of taking a big idea and executing on it within the restrictions at hand.
Originally, I wanted a true RPG style 16-bit game—I was ready to learn Unity to get it done. But, with time constraints, budget, and edibility by other designers in mind, I made it work with Articulate Storyline.
The game also showcases a very complex application of Storyline with: a dynamic map; game unlock mechanisms; easter eggs; unique re-visit loops for each character; and a video library.
